COURTLAND—A Capron woman has been charged with murder in connection with the 2007 shooting death of a 21-year-old man.
Deputies from the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tiona Martine Tucker, 27, of the 17000 block of Old Lamb Road, in Drewryville on Friday.
“Deputies attempted to serve indictments on Tucker at a residence on Sykes Drive, when she attempted to escape by fleeing out a window,” said Detective Cpl. Richard Morris, the sheriff’s department’s public information officer. “She was apprehended in a nearby home, where she was found hiding a short time later.”
A Southampton County Grand Jury handed down indictments charging Tucker with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges stemmed from the Feb, 13, 2007, death of Tirail Jackson, 21. Jackson was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in the trailer where he was staying on Hicksford Road in the Adams Grove area.
Detective Sgt. J.R. Ricks was the investigating officer. Tucker is being held without bond in the Western Tidewater Jail.
No additional charges have been filed in this case, Morris said.
