John H. Harris
NORFOLK—John Hodges Harris, died Feb. 28, 2009.
Born in Memphis, Tenn., October 30, 1926, he was the son of the late Lilburn and Margaret Harris, and was preceded in death by his wife, Roselle A. Harris.
Mr. Harris was retired from Civil Service, working at Naval Supply Center Norfolk.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Chesapeake Athletic Club and the Tidewater Bluegrass Music Association.
Survivors include a brother, Buck Harris of Virginia Beach; a nephew, Steve Harris of Norfolk; and a niece, Cathy Harris of Virginia Beach.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension (Episcopal) of Norfolk, 405 Talbot Hall Rd., Norfolk.
The Rector David Davenport will officiate. The family requests donations be made to The Tidewater Bluegrass Music Association, 6341 Devonshire Road, Norfolk, VA 23513, in lieu of flowers.
