Franklin police continue to investigate two high-profile crimes in recent months.

The first – a homicide and possible attempted burglary – took place Jan. 23 at a house on South High Street. A gunman fired a single shot into a bedroom at 509 S. High St., killing 29-year-old Brad Harris.

In the second crime, a man wearing a ski mask entered the Franklin branch of SunTrust Bank on Second Avenue on Feb. 23 and robbed a teller of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are looking for a black male with a light complexion who is 6 feet, 1 inch to 6 feet, 3 inches in height, weighs 200 pounds to 240 pounds and is in his mid- to late 20s.

“Things are moving along in the investigations,” said Lt. Tim Whitt of the Franklin Police Department. “Right now we are waiting for lab results — both DNA and ballistics.”

Whitt is asking anyone with information about either crime to call police.

“We could certainly use the public’s help,” he said.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Franklin police at 562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599.
