Dorothy Denton
WILLIAMSBURG—Dorothy “Dot” Denton died March 15, 2009, in Spring Arbor.
She was a long-time active member of Grace Baptist Church in Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Jessie Pierce of Sunbury, N.C.; two husbands, James R. Winslow and Joe Denton; also a brother, J.T. Pierce of Suffolk.
Mrs. Denton was employed in the grocery business for many years with H.T. Britt and Wayne Britt of Williamsburg.
She also worked in gift shops in the area, plus was manager of the breakfast room at the Princess Ann Motel for five years under Charlotte Estes.
Survivors include two children, a son, James Barry Winslow and wife Linda Winslow; a daughter, Judy Lynn Gambrell; three stepchildren, Joanne Tye and husband Mike Tye, Tim Denton and wife Susan Denton, and Glenn Denton; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Marjorie Galloway of Franklin and Jackie Parker of Suffolk; many nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her family and many friends, as well as her church family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Road, Williamsburg.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
