NEWPORT NEWS—Clara Elizabeth Faris Fox, 85, died March 11, 2009, surrounded by her family.
A native of Victoria, she was a Peninsula resident for the past 10 years.
Clara was devoted to her husband, her family and her church. She was a member of the Victoria Church of the Nazarene, where she served the Lord faithfully. She had a special love of music and played the piano, organ and violin.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy C. and Sarah Currin Faris; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Earnest McDowell, and Lucy Mae and Manser Flack.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, John Earl Fox; two daughters, Linda Kriner and her husband, the Rev. Walt Kriner of Newport News, Carolyn Fox of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren, David Kriner and his wife, Theresa of Newport News, Jason Kriner of Newport News, Sarah Elizabeth Glendenning of Murfreesboro; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Micah, Caleb and Mary Elizabeth Kriner, all of Newport News; sister and her husband, Neda and Franklin Smith of Victoria; brother-in-law and his wife, Euel and Dorothy Fox; sister-in-law and her husband, Alma and William Sherrill.
The family wishes to thank the staff at James River Convalescent Center in Newport News, for their care for the last 10 years.
Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services was conducted Saturday at the Victoria Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Ron Graham and Earl Pinchbeck officiating.
Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Victoria.
