YALE—Wayne McKinley Rose died March 8, 2009, at VCU Health Systems.
On Jan. 27, 1961, he was born to Mamie Rose.
He was a 1979 graduate of Sussex Central High School and later worked for many years as a security guard for Pinkerton Security Investigation Service and later for DSC Logistics in Chester.
He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Carolyn Rose.
Survivors include his mother, Mamie Rose of Yale; two devoted brothers, Elder Edward Rose (Vivian) of Williamsburg and Maurice Rose of Yale; four supportive sisters, Charlotte Rose-Gomez of Sacramento, Calif., Ellen Freeman (Henry) and Justina Rose, both of Yale, and Denise Wilkins of Stony Creek; one aunt, Maggie Rose of Jarratt; a devoted cousin, Hester Rose (like an aunt); three nephews, one devoted, Brandon Rose, all of Yale; eight nieces whom all loved him dearly; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; many devoted cousins and friends, among them a special loving devoted friend, Brenda Edwards of Dinwiddie, his “stickman” Shyheim Edwards, “Little Buddy” Shakobi Edwards of Dinwiddie.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church, Yale, with the Rev. Dr. Willie R. Derr officiating and District Elder Melvin Taylor eulogizing.
The interment will be in the Keys Family Cemetery, Yale. The family will assemble at 19303 Gray Road, Yale, one hour prior to the service.
