Alfred Gray
CAPRON—Alfred Gray, died March 7, 2009.
He was the son of the late James and Allie B. Russell.
Mr. Gray was born in Como, N.C., on Aug. 19, 1937. He moved to Capron at an early age.
He joined Zoar Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Bryant Baptist with his mother until her death. He worked for the Camp-Marks family as farmer all his life.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Emmitt, also known as Bobby, and his sister, Barbara Ann.
Survivors include his special friend of more than 30 years, Mildred Johnson; her daughters, Jeanette of Portsmouth and Mildred Odessa of Courtland; her two sons, Luther Johnson of Atlanta, Ga. and Jeffrey Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; he was grandfather to Shavonne, Tiara, Marcus, Ashley, Jeffrey Jr., My’Ana and Montrell; sisters, Sarah Russell and Shirlean Hardy of Roanoke Rapids; Dorothy Alexander of Waterbury, Conn. and Hannah Jenkins (Ed) of King George; and brothers, Milton and Sammy Lee Russell of Franklin.
A funeral will be held at noon Saturday at Bryant Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Mitchell Jr. officiating.
