Southampton County and Isle of Wight County schools, as well as area private schools, will open later than usual Tuesday morning to give bus drivers and parents extra time to navigate icy roads.

Southampton County officials said schools will open two hours later than usual.

In Isle of Wight County, classes at Windsor High and Windsor Middle School will begin at 8:58 a.m. All elementary schools will begin at 10:33 a.m. All buses will operate on a 90-minute delay. There will be no breakfast program.

Southampton Academy, Isle of Wight Academy and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will open two hours later than usual. Tidewater Academy will be closed.

Franklin schools reopened Tuesday after being closed Monday.
