Annie L. Battle
PORTSMOUTH—Annie L. Battle of the 700 block of Freedom Ave., died Feb. 23, 2009, in her residence.
She was the widow of Preston H. Battle.
Born in Southampton County, she was a bus driver for Hampton Roads Transit.
She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her son, Ulus L. Battle of Chesapeake; one sister, Hattie Tennessee of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Preston Jr. and Robert Stanley Battle; one sister and six brothers.
A funeral was held Friday in Olive Branch Baptist Church, by the Rev. Ernest Reid.
Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
Corprew Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
