Fresh off conference tournament championships, Franklin High School begins regional basketball playoff action this week.

The Lady Broncos will host Rappahannock in the quarterfinals of the Region A Tournament at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The boys’ team will host West Point at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Admission is $6 per person.

Each won their respective brackets in the Tri-Rivers District tournament last week.

Many FHS coaches and players received district honors:

* All-Academic: Pashawn Hunt, Mercedes Williams, Shaleeta Hicks, Jackina Reid, Kiara Lee, Tiara Rogers, Diamond Bowers and Daquan Clemons

* All-District first team: Timia Hobbs, Kiara Lee and Donzell Shearin

* All-District second team: Keshara Bradley and Ashley Lee

* All-District honorable mention: Iesha Boone, Pashawn Hunt and Daquan Frazier

* Coaches of the Year: Mona Sumblin and Danny Dillon

In other FHS sports news, Isiah Hudson placed fifth over the weekend in the state wrestling tournament.
