Franklin High School beat Surry County in the semifinals of the Tri-Rivers District boys’ basketball tournament Friday night.

The 78-75 victory puts the Broncos in tonight’s championship game against Chesterfield Community. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. at Surry County High.

In other prep action Friday night, Isle of Wight Academy dropped a 60-59 heartbreaker to Portsmouth Christian. IWA coach Ben Vaughan was seeking his 500th career win. He will get another shot in next week’s Metro Conference tournament.
