John E. Artis
SUFFOLK—John Earl “Son” Artis of Camp Pond Road died Feb. 17, 2009.
Also known as “Little John”, he was born March 8, 1946 to the late Woodrow and Hattie Hamlin Artis in Southampton County.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Teresa F. Artis; three daughters, Sabrina Artis, Angelette Olds, both of Suffolk and Cassandra Faulk of Fontana, Calif.; one son, Andrian Artis of Norfolk; two sisters, Hattie Moore of Newport News, Lois Artis of Franklin; four brothers, Willie Artis, Curtis Artis and Lorenzo Artis of Franklin, and Alvin Artis of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
A life’s celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ, Suffolk, with the pastor, the Rev. John Myers delivering the eulogy.
Burial will be in Sumner Family Cemetery.
On the day of service, his remains will be placed in church for viewing by 11 a.m.
