Headline creates anxiety

To the Editor:

The Friday, Feb. 13 edition features a bold headline, “IP plans to stop work” which has stimulated much anxiety and speculation in the community. While the article accurately describes IP’s announcement to temporarily lay off workers and cease production on 2 machines at the Franklin mill, I believe the headline is misleading and overrides the fact that the layoff and downtime is TEMPORARY. The Tidewater News should be more careful to print headlines that depict the true nature of the article, especially those regarding layoffs in this community during the current economic recession.
