Stanley J. Parker Sr.
CONWAY, N.C.—Stanley Joseph Parker Sr., 80, died Feb. 13, 2009, at his home in the Ashley’s Grove community.
He had been preceded in death by his son, Gilbert Stephenson Parker, formerly of Zuni; his brother, Lyman Parker, formerly of Murfreesboro, N.C.; and sisters, Vashti Tinkham and Lorene Slaughter formerly of Ahoskie.
A native of Northampton County, he retired from the Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, where he worked as a scalesman in roll finishing on Machine No. 3.
A caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his greatest joy was sharing happy times with his precious family.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Cloyce W. Parker of their home; children, Stanley Parker Jr. and wife Mary of Murfreesboro, Esther Cowan and husband Freddie of Como, N.C., Keith Parker and wife Viola of Hopewell, Nancy Hargrave and husband Junior of Pendleton, N.C., Teresa Parker of North Tonawanda, N.Y. and Pam Blanton of Ahoskie, N.C.; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Baugham and husband John of Boykins, and Trudy Gibson and husband Earl of Murfreesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday in Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Ross presiding.
Bridgers Funeral Home Inc. in Conway was in charge of arrangements.
