Leonard H. Miner Jr.
SMITHFIELD—Leonard “Lenny” Harry Miner Jr., 72, died Feb. 15, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
A native W. Babylon (Long Island), N.Y., he had been a Smithfield resident for the past 18 years.
Mr. Miner was an Army veteran of Korea and was a member of the American Legion, Post 49.
He was also a member of the Battery Park Ruritan Club.
Lenny was affectionately known as “the Hot Dog Man” and also as the most talkative man in Smithfield.
He owned and operated Miner Lawn Maintenance for many years. He was a member of Smithfield Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Patricia Blackwell Miner; his daughters, Cindy Angel, Valerie Talbert, and Sherry Watts; his sons, Anthony Miner and Russell Miner; two sisters, Delores Sweda and Beverly Maffucci; three stepsons, Brent Parsons Sr., David Parsons, John William Parsons; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A sister, Barbara Hrubes, preceded him in death.
A rosary service will be conducted at 6 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home with visitation following until 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Petersburg, officiated by the Rev. Jack Perry, with full American Legion honors.
