Clayton H. Pope
SUFFOLK—Clayton Heber Pope, 75, died Feb. 5, 2009.
He was born in Southampton County, the son of the late Mary and Heber Pope.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Thelma, Beatrice and Josephine.
Mr. Pope retired as a yard supervisor and truck driver for Webster Brick and Doyle Brick.
He enjoyed spending his mornings being a part of the Hardee’s Breakfast Club.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Daisy Bell Carr Pope; daughter and son-in-law, Helen Marie Pope Griffin and Larry C. Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton H. Pope Jr. and Laura P. Pope of Standardsville, Gary Ray and Judy A. Pope, Ronald Glen and Karen V. Pope, Samuel Todd Pope Sr. and Lisa B. Pope, all of Suffolk; grandchildren and spouses, Karen (Chris), Kimberly (Brian), Amy (Jon), Jason, Todd Jr. (Amy), Tommy, Erin, Andrew, Daniel, Amanda (Chris), Timmy, Samantha and Mattie; great-grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth, Emmy, Brooklyn, Cheyenne and Ayden; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Earl and Sarah Pope of Avonia.
A graveside service was held Monday in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Byron McCreary and Lisa Blackmonson officiating.
Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, was in charge of arrangements.
