Mr. Doles, also affectionately known as “Pa Pa,” was born to the late Robert Doles and Ilean (Price) Doles on Dec. 8, 1945, in Courtland.
He was raised and educated in the Newport News public school system where he graduated from Huntington High School after which he joined the U.S. Army and provided four years of exemplary service to his country.
He soon found himself working for Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. and then Waterfront Lumber Co. where he retired after a brief illness.
Survivors include his loving companion of 33 years, Laverne Clark; two sisters, Blanche D.
