She objects to offensive posts on Riverdale tragedy

To the Editor:
I am so disappointed in our community.
There have been more than 100 comments posted on The Tidewater News’ Web site regarding the accident at Riverdale Elementary and less than half of them should have even been posted. It has become a place of debating, arguing, finger-pointing and name-calling. I would think that at this point the TN would stop this ridiculous mess.
As I said in my post, a child of God was lost in a tragic accident and many were affected by this. We need to pray for this family and everyone involved. But for the family — and others — to have to see and hear of this crazy debating online is uncalled for.
Grow up, people. Where is your conscience? My prayers are for the people with so much anger right now. Give it to God, people! I would hope that the TN would put an end to this right away.
Editor’s note: The Tidewater News does not prescreen reader comments posted to www.thetidewaternews.com. The comment feature of our Web site is designed to encourage an open exchange of information and ideas. But if a poster uses inappropriate language (even when typographically obfuscated), makes potentially libelous comments or engages in ad hominem attacks on fellow posters or people mentioned in stories, we reserve the right (but assume no obligation) to remove any and/or all of the poster’s contributions. If a poster has become a problem for us or our site’s other users, we may ban that poster from using our services and Web sites.
We believe it is absolutely possible for people from a variety of points of view to discuss issues in a civil manner. However, if they are brought to our attention through the site’s “Suggest Removal” feature, we will remove comments that foster incivility.

Any user who feels that a contribution to the Web site is objectionable is encouraged to click the “Suggest Removal” link related to the specific post or posts.
