SUFFOLK—Doris Annette Bland, 51, of the 700 block of Rockingham St., died Jan. 19, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1957, to the late Doris A. Bland in the Berkley section of Norfolk.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, James and Pearl Edney.
Mrs. Bland was a 1975 graduate of Lake Taylor High School and also a graduate of Norfolk State University.
She was employed with the Chesapeake Community Service Board as a clinician.
She was a member of New Hope COGIC where she was a member of the Young Adult Choir and the Soul Searchers.
Survivors include two sisters, Gloria B. Anderson and Shelia Y. Bland, both of Norfolk; one brother, James Bland (Mary) of Windsor; three nieces, Sherry Tyson (Michael), Stephanie Bland and Stacey Hayes (Terrence); three nephews, James Anderson (Teresa), Corey Bland and Alex Swain; six aunts, Doris Lamb (Robert), Gladys Savage (Bishop John R. Savage), Helen Clark, Mahalia Clark, Maude Edney and Wilhelmenia Edney; two uncles, Henry Edney and Earl Clark (Clemetine); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Hope Church of God In Christ, 3232 Brest Ave.
Interment will follow in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
Family and friends will assemble at 712 Rockingham St. one hour prior to service for procession to the church.
A wake will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel.
