Irma Stallings
NEWPORT NEWS—Irma “Turner” Stallings died Jan. 12, 2009.
She was born in Southampton County on Sept. 9, 1919.
She was preceded in death by her father, William T. Turner; mother, Lillie V.; brothers, Frank and William; sisters, Carrie, Alma and Lou. She also precedes in death her one and only daughter, Virgie Worrell.
She had a special niece, Alberta Johnson, who was called to glory a few months prior.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Mavis Stallings and Brenda Hubbard of Newport News; great-grand children, Daneen Leslie, Shirlette, Shelia, Derek and Vernell Stallings.
She being the last matriarch of her generation, leaves behind a host of relatives from the next four generations.
A funeral service was held Monday at M.E. Fisher Funeral Home. Interment followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Services of celebration and remembrance were handled by M.E. Fisher Funeral Home.
