Deloris A. Benton
SUFFOLK—Deloris Ann Benton, of the 100 block of Nancy Drive, died Jan. 15, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Nansemond County and was the daughter of George L. Benton of Carrsville and Vergie Rodgers Benton of Suffolk.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Benton, and an uncle, Hughe Benton. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Buckhorn.
Survivors include four daughters, Malinda Myrick (Keith) of Franklin, Alvonya Benton, of Carrsville, Keisha Sharpe (Joseph) and Tiera Benton, both of Suffolk; one son, Calvin Benton (Kim), of Windsor; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Osborne of Suffolk and Betty Daughtrey (Karl) of Hampton.; one stepbrother, Earnest Tyler (Sharon) of Suffolk; two aunts, Shirley Joyner and Emma Benton; two uncles, William Sledge (Queen) of Washington, D.C. and Ranson Shearin; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon today at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Parker officiating.
Interment will be in Picott Family Cemetery, Carrsville.
