Ches Magette Jr.
COURTLAND—Davis Chestine “Ches” Magette Jr., 64, owner and operator of Magette Well Company, died Jan. 16, 2009, at his home.
A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Davis Chestine and Grace Williams Magette. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and the Courtland Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his two sons, Glenn Corbitt Magette of Courtland and Davis C. Magette III and wife, Isabel, of Weston, Fla., and three grandchildren, Zachary Corbitt Magette, Sophia Isabel Magette and Matthew Davis Magette. He was predeceased by a sister, Wren Harrell, and two brothers, Robert L. and Raymond W. Magette.
The funeral service was held Tuesday at Courtland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gordon officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
