Be careful on the roads today and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a dense-fog advisory to stay in effect through the morning drive hours.

Visibility has dropped to less than a quarter-mile in many places throughout the Western Tidewater.

In some areas, black ice may also be a concern, officials said.

The NWS said if drivers must go out, remember to slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Other weather events are also expected to have an effect on commuters this week.

Snow is forecast to move into the area after midnight, dumping up to 2 inches on the ground by late Tuesday.
