SMITHFIELD-Trinity United Methodist Church will have a shelter open for the

homeless tonight, when temperatures are expected to plunge into the single

digits in Western Tidewater.

The church is located at 201 Cedar St. in Smithfield.

Accuweather.com is predicting a low temperature tonight of 10 degrees in

Smithfield and 7 degrees in Franklin. Saturday’s high is forecast at 34

degrees.
