SA girls get key road win

BLACKSTONE – The Southampton Academy Lady Raiders are on a roll.

SA beat Kenston Forest School 55-37 in girls’ basketball action Thursday night to improve to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.

Lindsay Raulston had 22 points and 17 rebounds to pace the Lady Raiders. Gabby Gatten added 21 points.

SA led 14-9 after one quarter, 34-22 at halftime and 40-30 at the end of the third quarter.

Coach Burdette Gatten said it was “a good conference road win against a tough rival.”

He commended his squad’s strong defensive effort.

The Lady Raiders host rival Tidewater Academy on Monday night.
