Jessie B. Lassiter
SUFFOLK—Jessie Burt Lasster, 80, died Jan. 9, 2009, at his home after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Gates County, N.C., he was the son of the late Burton and Eva R. Lassiter and father of the late Mildred L. Edwards.
Mr. Lassiter was a retired electrical lineman.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Russell Lassiter; children, Barbara Ricks of Suffolk, Jessie Lassiter and wife Charlotte of Chesapeake, Melvin Lassiter and wife Beverly of Smithfield, Jerry Lassiter and wife Juanita of Suffolk, Carolyn Ricks and husband Jerry of Suffolk, Judy Britt and husband James of Franklin, Robin Guthrie and husband Buddy of Bassett; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Monday at the graveside in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. David Blevins.
