June N. Abbott
VIRGINIA BEACH—June Newsome Abbott, 61, died Jan. 12, 2009, in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
A native of Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Luther C. and Marjorie F. Hunnings.
She was a retired payroll clerk for the Virginia Beach Police Department.
Survivors include her three sons, Dennis M. Newsome Jr. of Carrsville, Michael W. Newsome Sr. of Virginia Beach and Jeffrey B. Newsome Sr. and wife Amy of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Carolyn H. Watson of Virginia Beach, Peggy A. Hunnings of Parker, Colo. and Glena H. Bellflower and husband Gordon of Jackson, N.C.; and a brother, Chip Hunnings and wife Melinda of Parker; eight grandchildren, Brent, Daniel, Michael Jr., Christopher, Stephanie, Jennifer, Jeffrey Jr. and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Nate and Keegan; niece and nephews, Brooke, Brian, Sean, David, Bryce and Brock; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel.
The family will greet friends Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.
