Joseph E. Adams Jr.
SUFFOLK—Joseph Eston Adams Jr., 85, died Jan. 11, 2009.
A native of Rich Square, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph Eston Adams, Sr. and Ellie Harrell.
He was also predeceased by his wife, Myrtle “Polly” Mae Twine Adams and his son, Johnnie Earl Adams.
Mr. Adams retired as a mechanic from Lipton Tea Company and a member of the Ambassador Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the 26th Infantry Regiment during World War II.
He was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and the Faithseekers Sunday School Class.
Survivor include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda A. and Sammy Smith of Franklin and Tricia A. and Andy Powers of Suffolk; three sons and daughter-in-law, G. Mike and Diane Adams of Carrsville, Randy W. Adams and Suzanne Parker of Suffolk, Billy R. Adams of Revere, Mass.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Wilroy Baptist Church on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Timothy Rawls officiating.
Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery with military honors.
Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, and other times at the home of Tricia and Andy Powers, 1414 Planters Dr., Suffolk.
