Dorothy A. Brown
YORKTOWN—Dorothy Anne Brown, 77, died Jan. 5, 2009.
She was born in Isle of Wight County, a daughter of the late Charley Benjamin Brown and Anna Maude Holland Brown Braswell.
Ms. Brown was a graduate of the DePaul Hospital School of Nursing and was a retired registered nurse from Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Freeman of Yorktown and Susie Mae Sovereign of Billings, Mont.; one brother, George Robert “Pete” Brown of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces and nephews, including Carolyn H. Bryant and husband John of Franklin.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Whiteman and Irene McClenny, and three brothers, Frank Brown, William Earl Brown, and Charlie “Bubba” Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Susan M. Reaves officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
