Carl E. Mason
FRANKLIN—Carl Edward Mason, 82, died Jan. 2, 2009.
He was born in Fairfield in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Charles Raymond and Eddie Belle Duff Mason.
Mr. Mason was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Briley and Mary Frances Ball, and a brother, Hunter Mason.
He was a Navy veteran of WW II and a member of the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was a retired owner of a small engine repair business.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Eva Dell Briley; two daughters, Linda Joyner and husband Harry of Suffolk and Judy Cutchins and husband Gary of Franklin; four sons, Charles Mason of Washington, D.C., Ricky Mason and wife Alice of Franklin, Jimmy Mason and wife Kim of Newport News and Chris Mason and wife Angela of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Regina Harris and husband Robert of Pinehurst, N.C.; two brothers, Wallace Mason and wife Mildred and Raymond Mason and wife Shirley, all of Franklin; his caretaker, Virginia White; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Monday at Wright Funeral Home with James P. Councill III officiating.
Interment followed in Southampton Memorial Park.
