Bessie P. Seldomridge
FRANKLIN—Bessie Porter Seldomridge, 99, died Dec. 26, 2008.
A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Willie “Herman” and Martha Cook Porter.
Mrs. Seldomridge was predeceased by two husbands, Harry Stanley Stephenson and Archie D. Seldomridge, a sister, Annie P. Hedgepeth, a brother, Marvin Porter, and a stepson, Norman Seldomridge.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and High Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Lucille S. Brock of Franklin; three grandchildren, Edward Brock and wife Nancy of Courtland, Christine Goodman and husband Wayne of Suffolk, Bess Kannan and husband Joey of Franklin; six great-grandchildren, Kendall and Jason Brock, Stephanie Goodman, Brock, Stephan, and James Kannan; two sisters, Arie Wilkins of Suffolk and Lydia Griggs of Franklin; two brothers, Ray Porter and Cecil Porter, both of Franklin, and a stepdaughter, Doris Roberts of Georgia.
A funeral service was conducted Monday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating.
Interment will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
