Nathaniel Aston
SUFFOLK—Nathaniel Aston, 79, died Dec. 28, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
A native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Cosco Aston and Novella Butler Aston.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Beverly C. Aston and Billy B. Aston and three sisters, Mary A. Windsor, Olivette A. Bradshaw and Marie A. Cralle.
Mr. Aston retired as a supervisor of cooking at Planters Peanuts, an affiliate of Kraft Foods.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War in both Korea and Japan.
He was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and the Richard Williams Class. He served repeated terms as a deacon and served on various church committees. Nathaniel was a loving husband, father, and granddaddy.
He was devoted to his family and church and a friend to all he knew.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 53 years, Dora White Aston of Suffolk; a son Keith N. Aston and wife Margaret of Windsor; a daughter, Elaine A. Lankford and husband Darrell of Suffolk; two grandsons, Tyler Keith Aston and Nicholas Brandon Lankford; and a sister, Eunice A. Lindsay of Chesapeake.
A funeral service with military honors will be held today at 2 p.m. at Western Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hills officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
