Elizabeth M. Butler
ZUNI—Elizabeth Mathheus Butler, 76, of the 7500 block of Yellow Hammer Road, died Dec. 28, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
A native of Russellville, Ala., she was the daughter of the late James and Virgie Jackson Mathheus.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, Ernest L. Butler; three daughters, Phyllis Erie of Indiana, Betty Jean Pierce and husband Larry of Russellville and Melinda Butler and husband Jimmy of Zuni; three sons, James Butler and wife Sheila of Russellville, Billy Joe Butler and wife Holly of Portsmouth and Floyd Butler and wife Christy of Suffolk; one brother, Earl Mathheus of Russellville; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased be two brothers, James and Leon Mathheus; a sister, Mary Williams; a daughter, Elizabeth “Tinnie”; a granddaughter, Kimberly and a grandson, James David.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
