Henry Cecil Eley Jr.
WINDSOR—Henry Cecil Eley Jr., 71, died Dec. 23, 2008, in his home surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Suffolk, he was the son of the late Eleanor B. and Henry C. Eley Sr. Cecil was a member of Windsor Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of the Windsor Town Council, Windsor Ruritan Club and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved hunting, drag racing and older cars.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Snuffin Eley; daughters, Michelle Thomasson of Virginia Beach, Kimberly Adams and husband James of Chesapeake and Mary Elizabeth Eley of the home; grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Thomasson, T.J. Kane and Cody and Dallas Adams; sister, Nancy E. Zeiders and husband Don of Williamsburg, Pa.; niece, Donna and James Harrison; nephews, Brandon and Amanda Davis and Kyle Davis; great-niece, Brittany Harrison; parents-in-law, Royden “Pat” and Marlissee Snuffin.
A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Bryan Brooks with burial in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Mary Elizabeth Eley Fund at Farmers Bank, 50 East Windsor Blvd., Windsor, VA 23487 or to the American Cancer Society, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
