James R. Nixon
WINDSOR—James Ralph Nixon, formerly of Windsor, died Dec. 19, 2008, at the home of his daughter in Mobile, Ala.
He was born in North Carolina in 1922, the son of the late James Richard Nixon and Mary Carver Nixon.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving as a pharmacist mate during World War II.
Mr. Nixon was a member of Colosse Baptist Church. He retired as a farmer and as a shipping clerk for Vitex Corporation in Suffolk.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette Hines Nixon.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Nixon Woodard and James Allen Woodard of Mobile; stepgrandchildren, Sean and Chad Woodard; stepgreat-grandchildren, Nikki and Tony Woodard.
A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating.
Burial will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery and there will be a reception at the church after the burial.
