Shirley A. SImmons
SMITHFIELD—Shirley Ann Simmons died Dec. 8, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in Southampton County to Mary E. Simmons and the late Hurley Simmons Sr.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving mother, Mary E. Simmons of Smithfield; two daughters, Beverly Perry (Herman) of Carrollton and Nichole Simmons of Smithfield; three sisters, Joyce Green, Cynthia Simmons and Audrey Simmons of Smithfield; two brothers, Hurley Simmons Jr. of Zuni and Patrick Simmons (Debbie) of Smithfield; two grandchildren, Calandra Smith (Leonard) of Windsor and Cedric Simmons of Suffolk; three great-grandchildren, Caron, Crishon and Camille; two godchildren, Shalwan and Shundra Ricks of Smithfield; a devoted friend, Mary Warren of Smithfield; and two devoted caretakers, Frances Williams of Windsor and Debbie Simmons of Smithfield, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shivers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James T. Elam Sr. officiating.
Interment will be held in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
Professional services is being handled by Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield.

BOYKINS—Georgia R. Blunt Stephenson, 81, of the 18100 block of S. Railroad Ave., died Dec. 4, 2008.
A funeral was held Wednesday in Shiloh Baptist Church.
Engram Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
