FRANKLIN—Mattie E. Ridley Hart of the 800 block of Cool Spring St., died Dec. 2, 2008, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Southampton County, she was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
She was employed as a store clerk for the Colonial Store until she retired.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Hart of Halifax County, N.C., Tina Hart of Richmond and Audrey Stewart of Franklin; one son, Clarence Jr. (Tanya) of Richmond; six grandchildren, Angela Campbell (Marcellous) of Maryland, Clarence Lee Faulk of New Jersey, Dishaun Hart (Debbie) of Newport News, Arkeinee Bynum of Halifax County, Jasmine Blount of North Carolina and De’Andre Taylor of Franklin; seven great-grands, Nyah and Gloria Campbell, Deonta’, Jaron and Donovan Faulk, Estrella and Clarence Ramone Hart and Adrian Bynum-Hicks; one grand pooch, Quincy Stewart; one sister-in-law, Rosa Hart; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Clarence M. Hart Sr.; one daughter, Gloria Hart-Dawson; one sister, Queen Esther Dixon; eight brothers, Willie, James Garfield, Irvin, Winfield, Predell, Herbert Lee, Johnnie Lee and Linwood Ridley; and her parents, Clayton and Mattie Ridley.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in William M. Engram Sr. Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Samuel Buck.
Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
The family will meet and greet family and friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in Engram Funeral Home, Franklin.
The viewing will be until 11 a.m. Saturday.
