Freeman M. Bontrager
DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio—Freeman M. Bontrager, 70, of Zanesville, did Nov. 28, 2008, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Geauga County, Ohio, a son of the late Manas D. and Ada Byler Bontrager.
Mr. Bontrager retired as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Amanda Miller Bontrager, whom he married April 21, 1957; four daughters, Clara “Faith” (David) Kumher of Middlefield, Ohio, Juanita (Donald) Richards of Franklin, Twila (Jason) Rogers of Centerburg, Ohio, and Lila (Rick) Wayne of Zanesville; eight grandchildren, Mandi (Ben) Wood, Michael (Amanda) Kumher, Elizabeth Kumher, Ryan Richards, Charity (Joel) Wahl, Heather (Mike) Newman, Lauren Jordan, Brandon Jordan; six great-grandchildren, Lee (Ida) Bontrager, Ray (Alma) Bontrager, Wayne (Joyce) Bontrager, Ruth (Crist) Byler, Esther (Ray) Kauffman, and he will be sadly missed by his great-granddaughter, Emma Grace.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Myron Ray; his daughter, Connie Joy; and two brothers, Henry and Allen Bontrager.
Funeral services was held at Monday at Tree of Life Church with the Rev. Thomas Hayes officiating.
A service was also held Tuesday at Maple View Mennonite Church, Burton, Ohio, with John Miller and Lester Miller officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
