Strangers and friends alike came to her aid after fall

To the Editor:

On Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 18, I headed to Kilby’s Flower Shop to pay a bill. I had parked my car, walked around the car and, as I approached the sidewalk, somehow tripped and fell full force on the sidewalk.

A man and his wife saw me fall and came to help me. Another man had parked across the street and must have seen me also, because he came to help me. The two men pulled me up, and I was helped to continue to Kilby’s. I guess, after seeing my bleeding and scratched-up face, the owner of Kilby’s, Bobby Vick, offered to call someone to help me.

Then he suggested that his employee, John Drewry, would drive me home, and Bobby would follow and bring John back to the shop. Soon, my friend Carolyn Bryant, whom Bobby had called for me, came to my home and checked on me. My husband was working out of town that day.

So, at this Thanksgiving time, I have much for which to be thankful. I want to thank all of these people, some of whom I do not know, for helping me when I really needed help. I am also thankful that I did not break a bone.
