Ora Wyatt Jernigan
FRANKLIN—Ora Jean Wyatt Jernigan, 68, passed away Nov. 26, 2008.
She was born in Suffolk, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ray Wyatt and James Finnie Wyatt Sr. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Lee Jernigan; brother, Richard “Budlee” Wyatt; and sister, Brenda Wyatt Byrum.
Ora retired as a caregiver after working in various nursing homes. She was a member of Suffolk Church of God and a member of Suffolk’s Women of the Moose.
Ora is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia D. and Jim E. Ward Jr., Bonnie J. and Robert E. Gooding Jr., all of Suffolk; son and daughter- in-law, James Roland Jernigan and Lauren C. Jernigan of Franklin; grandchildren, Ashley Daughtrey, Lindsey Jernigan, Nathan Gooding, Chad Jernigan, Elizabeth Ward and Wyatt Jernigan; four brothers, Finnie Wyatt Jr. and wife Doloris of Downey, Calif., Shelton Wyatt and friend Chris of Portsmouth, Ernest “PeeWee” Wyatt and wife Linda of Suffolk, and Roland “Mike” Wyatt and wife Mary of Timberville; two sisters, Dora Willis and husband, Thomas “Runt,” and Iris “Butch” Jones, both of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Peggy Wyatt of Hobbsville, N.C.; half-sister, Betty Lou Upton and husband J.C. of Elizabeth City, N.C.; many loving nieces and nephews; and other close relatives.
A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with the Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Shelia and Jim Ward.
