Billy C. Jones Sr.
SUFFOLK—Billy Cecil Jones Sr., 63, died Nov. 24, 2008, in his home.
Born in Freeman, W.Va., he was the son of the late Paul Cody and Kate K. Jones.
For 25 years, he worked for Lipton Tea as a tea blender.
Mr. Jones served as a drill sergeant for six years in the U.S. Army, had two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning two Bronze Stars and an Army Commendation Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Lowery Jones; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Cecil and Traci Jones Jr. of Jarvisburg, N.C., Paul Jones of Baltimore, Larry and Amy Jones of Windsor; grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, Kayla, Harley, Katie and Junior; stepsons, Robert P. and Debra Ricks of Windsor, Bert and Rene Ricks of Suffolk; stepgrandchildren, Sara, Ryan, Frank, Kelsey and James; brother, Ray Jones of Pocahontas; sisters, Betty Robinnett of Honaker, Louise Bruggeman of Blue Field, Wanda Nelson of Bakersfield, Calif., Nancy Perry of Abbs Valley; numerous nieces and nephews and his canine companion, “B.”
A memorial service will be conducted today at 1 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. David Michel.
