A downed power line Tuesday caused confusion across the county at residences and businesses alike, and had fire crews scrambling.
Charles Penn, media and community relations manager with Dominion Virginia Power, said a high-voltage transmission wire was down and on the ground at a substation in the city, which affected customers in Sedley, Black Creek and Franklin.
Penn said he received notification that there was a power outage at 11:18 a.m. About 160 customers were without power until about 4:30 p.m.
“We still don’t know what caused (the line to go down),” Penn said.
According to Franklin Fire Chief Vince Holt, six calls potentially related to the outages had been received by fire and rescue crews
“We are hoping it’s going to quiet down, but we are preparing for the worst,” Holt said.
