Joe B. Harris Jr.
EMPORIA—Joe B. Harris Jr., 63, son of the late Joe and Mary Harris, died Nov. 9, 2008, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Harris was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections.
During his retirement, he worked as a convenience store clerk in the Emporia area.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include special friend, Jean Weaver of Emporia; two brothers, Steve Harris and wife Angela of Courtland and Ronnie Harris of Emporia; nieces and nephews, Chris Harris of Atlanta, Ga. and Adam and Heather Harris of Courtland and Eric and Daniel Harris of Emporia.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
