Dudley G. Edwards
JARRATT—Dudley Grizzard Edwards, 87, son of the late Floyd and Lillie Belle Edwards of Southampton County, died Nov. 5, 2008.
Mr. Edwards, a loving husband, father and grandfather, World War II Navy veteran, and award-winning peanut farmer, is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Elsie Harrell Edwards.
Survivors also include his daughters, Connie Harrell (Donnie), Terri Branch (Bobby) and Sharon Mattox (Tim); his grandchildren, Jeremy Branch (Melissa), Daniel Mattox, Erin Byrum (Ryan), Matthew Harrell and Jordan Mattox; his sisters, Margaret Cifers, Mae Belle Burgess, Dorothy Lassiter (R.T.); brother, Horace Edwards (Jessie); and sister-in-law, Margaret Edwards.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Adelia Crutchlow (Lenton) and Bessie Allen (Willie); and brothers, Andrew (Virginia), Raymond, Bob (Odelle) and Charles.
He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church where he was a former administrative chairperson and choir member.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday at Owen Funeral Home led by the Rev. Kwang Ho Lee.
Interment followed at Greensville Memorial Cemetery, Emporia.
