Charlie E. “Jack” Carr
CARRSVILLE—Charlie Eugene “Jack” Carr, 81, died in his home in the early morning of Nov. 9, 2008, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Carr, known by his many friends as “Jack,” was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
He will be sorely missed as he goes to be with those who passed before him, father, George W. Carr, mother, Mary George Carr, sisters, Mary Virginia Carr, Daisy Darden, Hazel Daughtrey, Lorraine Duck, and brother, George Carr.
He was the eldest son and had to become a young man at just 14 when his father perished in an accident, leaving him to run the family farm with only the help of a few friends.
He was a terrific baseball player in his youth and enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, bird hunting, checkers, and cards, but nothing was ever more dear to him than his family.
He was a hard working man, pleasant to be around, easy to laugh, and quick to help others.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Josephine Carr; daughter, Deborah C. Harver and husband, Duane; four sons, Michael E. Carr and wife Vickie, David Carr and wife Sue, Donald G. Carr and wife Jackie and Mark A. Carr; seven grandchildren, Eric Carr, Kristy Bryant, Thomas-Steele Carr, Sarah Jo Carr, Jesse Harver, Jamie Harver and Bethany Harver; great-grandchild, Braydon Bryant; two sisters, Betty Lou Presson and husband Jimmy, Helen Holland and husband Bruce; brother, John T. Carr and wife Glenda; a very dear friend, Marie Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral was conducted Tuesday at Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandson, Pastor Thomas-Steele Carr officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tim Webb.
The family suggests memorials be made in Jack’s memory to Colosse Baptist Church or Carrsville Fire Department.
Wright Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
