Police apprehended two juveniles who were allegedly involved in vandalizing a series of downtown buildings last week.

Lt. T.W. Whitt said officers who responded Thursday night to a report of buildings being spray-painted saw two juveniles running from Third Avenue.

Both boys – a 14-year-old resident of Cameron Street and a 15-year-old resident of Dorchester Square Apartments – were apprehended.

“Upon further investigation, petitions were applied for on the two for destruction of private property and they were released to their parents,” Whitt said.

Businesses vandalized were Parker, Barlow, Babineau & Riddick law firm in the 100 block of First Avenue; Ballance Carpet Cleaners in the 400 block of E. Second Ave.; the Benjamin Wade Building in the 200 Block of East Avenue; Rapture Church in the 100 block of Bogart Street; Parker Battery in the 200 block of South Street; and Floor to Ceiling in the 200 block of North Main Street.
