Gillette has career day in Hampden-Sydney win

Franklin native Adam Gillette caught a career-high 10 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown as Hampden-Sydney College bounced back from its first loss of the season to defeat previously unbeaten Huntingdon College 38-34 here Saturday.

Gillette, the son of Walker and Becky Gillette and a Nansemond-Suffolk Academy graduate, snagged a 31-yard touchdown pass from Corey Sedlar to cap a 68-yard Tiger drive to open the second half and stretch a 17-14 halftime advantage to 27-14.

Sedlar threw for 489 yards and four touchdowns for Hampden-Sydney, 8-1. The Tigers outgained the Hawks 550-322 in total offense.

Hampden-Sydney returns to action Saturday when it welcomes arch-rival Randolph-Macon to Lewis C. Everett Stadium for Senior Day. Game time is 1 p.m.
