To the Editor:

On Oct. 18 the Education Foundation for Isle of Wight Public Schools held its second annual “Students First” Dinner and Auction. Thank you to everyone involved for making it such an overwhelming success. County merchants graciously donated items and sponsorships for the event. Foundation board members and volunteers worked tirelessly to organize a first-class gala.

Parents, school system employees and citizens who attended that night showed their generosity through their bids on almost 200 items.

The money raised will directly fund the Instructional Grants program for teachers, which supports innovative classroom projects that enhance student learning.

We extend a special thank you to those individuals and businesses which supported the event through their sponsorships and donations. A complete list of sponsors and donors can be found at www.iowstudentsfirst.com.

We would also like to thank Bob Cole, president of the foundation, for his leadership and encouragement as we prepared for the event.

Thanks to all of you for your support and for putting “Students First.”
