To the Editor:
Wayne Farmer has been a member of our firm for the past 12 years. In that time, he has become our partner, an outstanding attorney and a trusted friend. We work with him on a daily basis. More than anyone, we know that his skill as an attorney, his outstanding character and his commitment to the citizens of Isle of Wight County make him the obvious choice to serve as Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Recent letters written on behalf of his opponent questioned his experience and suggest that he will be a “rubber stamp” to law enforcement. Clearly, these letters are written by individuals who do not know Wayne. For more than a decade, we have been there as Wayne fought for his clients and we have no doubt that he will bring the same tenacity to his representation of the citizens of Isle of Wight.
Local law enforcement is supporting Wayne for the same reason that we do. They know that he has the criminal trial experience and commitment to Isle of Wight to make him an outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Make no mistake about it; the commonwealth’s attorney must be prepared to try cases in Isle of Wight Courts, to work together with law enforcement and to zealously represent the citizens of Isle of Wight. Wayne has spent his entire career doing just those things and that is experience that no other candidate can match.
We will be sorry to lose him as our partner, but we will be proud to call him the commonwealth’s attorney. We urge you to vote for Wayne on Nov. 4.
