Leroy E. Byrd Jr.
HAMPTON—Leroy Edward Byrd Jr. was born Dec. 16, 1966, in Hampton. He died at his home Oct. 24.
Mr. Byrd graduated from Bethel High School in Hampton in 1986.
He was employed as a Welder for 18 years in the Newport News Shipyard in the X18 welding department.
He was a member of Open Door Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a member of the Senior Usher’s Ministry.
Survivors include his loving parents, Leroy E. Byrd Sr. and Shirley Durant Byrd; his brother, Edwin R. Byrd of Hampton; seven aunts; one uncle; his very special friends, Shawanna Bailey of Newport News and Calvin Wright of Murfreesboro, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Thursday at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Chapel.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Newport News.
Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
